New 2000 Series CDs
Featuring Music Composed Between 1989 and 1994

The 2000 series, which includes Fire Monkey, Trembling Flowers and Sea of France, features music Robinson composed during the five years prior to his use of Indian ragas.

Eleven of the new CDs are characterized by music that is highly colorful, rhythmic and contrapuntal, containing elements from both Western and World Music, including some tunings other than equal temperment.

Seven of the CDs consist of extended compositions, anticipating the alap form of ragas.

Why did it take more than ten years to release this music? Robinson focuses on composing and recording new music. He had been planning to release these works for some time, and finally took the opportunity to do so. While recording these CDs, Michael was pleasantly reminded about how different the compositions are from his current work. The fact that this music took so long to be released is no reflection on its quality. It holds an important place in the composer’s oeuvre, and includes some of the most beautiful music he has ever written. Because there is so much varied material included in these new releases, it takes a long time to digest and sort out.

Touch A Color presents six of the first compositions Robinson composed for the 3000 series meruvina in 1995, reflecting his early study of Indian classical music.

The covers for the CDs will be posted in coming months.
