The term "classical music" is often outmoded and mistaken given how jazz superseded European classical music, and then rock and pop did the same to jazz, followed by hip hop doing the same. The high quality inferred by the term "classical" in Western music came to transcend race, culture, genre, and medium, and does not belong exclusively to any one of these.
