Minerals, Gemstones and Music

Overwhelming the scope and breadth of minerals, gemstones and jewelry at the Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson I attended last month, the largest such gathering in the world. My attraction to minerals and stones began when I was a young boy, and continues to grow.

We, and the earth, are largely composed of minerals, analogous to the tones of music.

Around ten years ago, I even began naming compositions after various gemstones, including Amethyst Labyrinth, Carnelian Compass, Peridot Pond, Onyx Sands, Pink Sapphire, Ruby Soul and Emerald Anklets. Some earlier works were named Pink Jade, Blue Beads and China Gem. Here are several of these. I hope you have a chance to hear all of them. Recalling these, each album is a favorite.
